Make a formal complaint to SIA
We manage formal complaints on behalf of sporting organisations that have adopted the National Integrity Framework (Framework) if your matter relates to:
- child safeguarding: Prohibited Conduct that puts children and young people at risk
- discrimination: when a person/group is treated unfairly because of protected characteristics such as age, disability, race, gender identity, sexual orientation or religion
- abusive behaviour towards a person with disability: behaviour that degrades, humiliates, exploits or denies a person with disability their dignity or autonomy.
A formal complaint is a formal written submission alleging a person has engaged in Prohibited Conduct.
This may lead to a formal assessment and complaint-handling process and generally requires participation from the people involved.
Important information to note
- For us to manage complaints, they must relate to the alleged conduct listed above AND to a sport that has adopted the National Integrity Framework
- If your sport has not adopted the Framework, we can still provide guidance, but you should direct your complaint directly to your sport
- This applies to sports such as:
- Submission of a complaint may initiate a formal process managed by us
- We cannot manage personal grievances or team selection disputes
- We will evaluate all complaints to determine if they can be considered under a child safeguarding or discrimination lens
- If an allegation does not fall under the behaviours we manage, we may refer you to your sporting organisation

- Consider the nature of the conduct when determining where to direct your report or complaint.
- For example, is the complaint of a serious nature that requires the highest level of intervention, or is it better dealt with at club level?
