Law enforcement plays a vital role in helping protect the integrity of sport. Reporting threats like the use or trafficking of performance and image enhancing drugs to Sport Integrity Australia helps prevent criminal activity linked to organised crime. Even minor tips can lead to proactive action, protecting athletes and preserving fair competition.

We play a national coordination role for all sport integrity related matters, including investigating threats to sports integrity and providing assistance and advice to sports.

We work with key partners including law enforcement to reduce the integrity threats through proactive preventative actions.

In 2024, Sport Integrity Australia launched the Law Enforcement Partnership Program to strengthen collaboration with law enforcement. The initiative aims to drive information sharing and joint operational efforts to address cases involving potential criminal activity that threaten the integrity of sport.

Our aim is to improve how we prevent and respond to sport integrity threats in Australia through collaboration.

The National Strategy for Information Sharing enables these opportunities with law enforcement agencies.

The program supports a strong and cohesive network between us and our stakeholders. These include Commonwealth, State and Territory agencies and regulators. Their specialties are in law enforcement, intelligence and safeguarding.

Memorandum of Understandings (MoU)

We signed Memorandum of Understandings (MoU) with state and territory police including the Australian Federal Police.

These MoUs will help to build partnerships and abilities. They'll improve how we find and respond to emerging sport integrity threats and law enforcement to help our agency protect sport from crime.

Law Enforcement Conference

We host a yearly Law Enforcement Conference. It’s an important commitment under our National Strategy for Information Sharing.

This year's conference was held on 5 March to engage and collaborate with law enforcement locally and internationally.

This year’s conference, for the first time, brought together law enforcement partners and National Anti-Doping Organisations (NADOs) from across the Pacific to explore emerging threats in the region.
