Sport Integrity Australia acknowledges that Basketball Australia has imposed a two-year period of Ineligibility on athlete Montrezl Harrell for Refusing or Failing to Submit to Sample Collection.
Under Article 2.3 of the Australian National Anti-Doping Policy 2021 (ANADP), it is an Anti-Doping Rule Violation (ADRV) if an athlete refuses or fails to submit to Sample Collection without compelling justification after notification by a duly authorised person.
It was determined that Mr Harrell refused and/or failed to submit to sample collection during an Out-of-Competition doping control test on 29 January 2025 without compelling justification.
Basketball Australia has imposed a two-year period of Ineligibility commencing on 29 January 2025, backdated in accordance with Article 10.13.1 of the ANADP for delays not attributable to Mr Harrell.

As such, Mr Harrell is ineligible to participate in any sports that have adopted a World Anti-Doping Code compliant anti-doping policy until 11:59pm on 28 January 2027.
He is also not permitted to compete in a non-signatory professional league, or event organised by a non-signatory International or National level event organisation.
Any medals, points and prizes Mr Harrell obtained from 29 January 2025 onwards are forfeited.
Mr Harrell’s matter is published on the Violations List in accordance with section 19A of the Sport Integrity Australia Act 2020 (Cth) and Article 14.3 of the ANADP.
