This page helps you understand what good teamwork looks like, how to speak up if someone is being unkind, and how to help make your team a safe and welcoming place.
How should my team treat me? (Ages 7 to 12)
Your teammates should be kind and include you in games and activities.
Good teammates:
- Use kind words
- Help you learn and have fun
- Never bully, tease, or leave you out.
Think about:
What makes someone a good teammate?
Activity:
List three things good teammates do.
Example:
Imagine you're playing with your teammates, and someone keeps calling you names. That’s not okay.
What you could say:
"I don't like being called names. It makes me feel left out. Can you please stop?"
Tip:
If someone is mean, tell a trusted adult like your coach or parent.
How should my team treat me? (Ages 13 to 17)
Your team should treat you with respect and fairness.
This means:
- Respecting your identity and background
- Supporting and including you
- Not bullying, harassing, or excluding you
- Speaking to you with kindness and encouragement.
Reflection:
Write down three ways you can help make your team more inclusive.
Scenario:
If a teammate spreads rumours about you online, that’s cyberbullying. You can report it.
What you could say:
"Someone on my team is posting things about me online that aren’t true. I’ve saved the posts, and I need help reporting it—it’s making me feel really isolated."
Tip:
If you see someone being treated unfairly, speak up. Everyone deserves to feel welcome.
