Unauthorised use of Sport Integrity Australia logo by Powerlifting Australia

Sport Integrity Australia (SIA) has become aware of the unauthorised use of its logo and display of the Australian National Anti‑Doping Policy 2021 (ANADP) on the Powerlifting Australia website

News and Media

Published

At present, Powerlifting Australia is not recognised by the Australian Sports Commission (ASC) as a National Sporting Organisation (NSO) and the organisation’s access to the ANADP was revoked in 2023.

SIA does not endorse Powerlifting Australia in any way, and any assertions that the ANADP applies to Powerlifting Australia or its members are inaccurate and misleading.

The ANADP sets out Australia’s anti‑doping rules for sports and participants covered by the National Anti‑Doping Scheme, and through arrangements with recognised national sporting bodies.

A non‑recognised organisation cannot unilaterally claim coverage under the ANADP or imply endorsement by SIA.

To date, Powerlifting Australia has not complied with SIA’s legal demands to remove the SIA logo and the ANADP from its website, and continues to display them without authorisation.

In Australia, National Sporting Organisations are required to obtain approval from SIA’s CEO before adopting the ANADP.

Athletes and support personnel seeking official information about anti‑doping obligations should refer to resources at sportintegrity.gov.au.

Information relating to the appropriate use of the SIA logo can be found on the Copyright page of the SIA website.
